Artist Statement

Degree in Fine Art (Sculpture) Norwich School of Art and Design.
I have worked with a variety of materials in my practice from woodcarving to welded steel, plastics to bronze casting. My current medium is painted wood. The work is developing the idea of the illusory sense of movement in an inanimate object through the use of colour and shape and dealing with the inevitable problems which are thrown up. Hard edge and shadow are an integral part of a successful composition along with the correct balance of colour. The work varies from relief sculpture to large 3D pieces.
I also have a keen interest in Life Drawing, its discipline of acute observation I think is an essential part of any art practice.
