Artist Statement

K R Pomeroy refuses conventional categorization. His work began as paintings but with the deformation of the canvas surface (see dissertation piece) and deconstruction of the canvas he has moved towards a more sculptural approach. Pomeroy’s digital installation, Origin of the World: 64 Yoni Images, was shown in three USA cities in 2006 and 2008. Again there is a refusal to be categorized: Pomeroy refers to himself as a visual artist who also uses photography and driftwood sculpture in his practice.
Pomeroy has the intention of using the elements of painting to further explore the notion of the painting and painting process and the structure of painting (see the Deconstruction video on his web site).
