Artist Statement

Sandra's figurative paintings feature her built surroundings, the medieval city of Norwich where she has her studio, and the nearby coastline of Norfolk, especially the working fishing town of Wells next the Sea.
Influenced by her design and scenery work at the Maddermarket Theatre, Sandra prefers to paint large scale work that has a theatrical and narrative element. Textural work within the canvas gives added depth to the painting and allows for further careful development of colour.
Sandra trained in art at Norwich City College and at the Norwich School of Art and Design and has a Masters Degree in Art and Design. She has an extensive portfolio of short course development including Mural Painting, Life Drawing, Computer Design and Animation, Watercolour, Oil painting and Copper Plate Etching.
